​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Bhubaneswar, January 12: Dr. Satyajit Naik, IPS, the Inspector General of Police for the Central Range in Cuttack, was awarded the prestigious DGP’s Disc by Y. B. Khurania, Director General of Police, Odisha, on the 90th Odisha Police Formation Day. The award recognizes his exemplary service during his tenure as the Deputy Inspector General of Police for the Eastern Range, covering the districts of Balasore and Bhadrak.

The ceremony, held at R.K. Padhi Memorial Hall in Cuttack, saw Dr. Naik among 119 Odisha Police personnel honoured for their exceptional service, dedication, and leadership in maintaining law and order. This recognition highlights his pivotal role in managing sensitive situations, fostering communal harmony, and leading high-profile investigations, particularly in curbing wildlife poaching.

As a 2008 batch IPS officer, Dr. Naik has made significant contributions to policing in Odisha. His tenure in the Eastern Range was marked by a balanced approach, combining stringent law enforcement with community engagement and long-term preventive strategies. His efforts have helped to maintain peace and security in the region.

In recognition of his continuous commitment, Dr. Naik was promoted to the rank of Inspector General of Police, effective January 1, 2026. Throughout his career, he has held key positions, including as DIG for both the Central and Eastern Ranges, earning a reputation for professionalism, integrity, and strategic leadership.

Expressing his gratitude, Dr. Naik acknowledged the support and teamwork of the police force and credited the guidance of senior leadership for his success. He reaffirmed his commitment to serve the people of Odisha with renewed dedication in his new role as IGP, Central Range, Cuttack.

The DGP’s Disc continues to be a hallmark of excellence within the Odisha Police, recognizing officers who have made meaningful contributions to public safety, harmony, and the rule of law.
