Bhubaneswar, Oct 14: While the Nuapada by-election is afoot i.e scheduled on November 11, the opposition BJD held a key meeting at Naveen Niwas on Tuesday to finalise the party nominee.

The closed door meeting chaired by BJD Supremo Naveen Patnaik and participated by a handful senior leadership reportedly discussed regarding the party’s new face for the Nuapada battle.

According to reliable sources, BJD leader & senior Vice-President Debi Prasad Mishra accompanied by Pranab Prasad Das and Sanjay Kumar Das Burma entered the Naveen Niwas in the evening and attended the crucial meeting.

As the political experts presume, the BJD senior leaderships who undertook the ‘Jana Samparka Padayatra’ in Nuapada on 9th October, might have prepared a list of befitting BJD leaders during their movements across the district. They have tentatively shortlisted a few prospective candidates who are minutely evaluated on their grassroot level organisation and leadership potential in putting checkmates before the BJP candidate, for final pick by the BJD President.

On the other hand, the ruling BJP has apparently finalised its nominee for the Nuapada by-election. Meanwhile, the Odisha BJP has welcomed Jay Dholakia, son of the deceased Nuapada MLA Rajendra Dholakia, to the party with a rousing reception. Thus, Jay is likely to be the BJP face for the ensuing Nuapada election.

Similarly, Odisha Congress in a first, has earlier landed on the Nuapada ground to kick off campaign ahead of the by-election since the Odisha PCC chief Bhakta Charan Das, has already made public that tribal leader Ghasiram Majhi would be the Congress face for Nuapada this time. However, the formal approval of Naveen Patnaik in picking the BJD nominee for the Nuapada castle is yet awaited.
