Bhubaneswar, July 8: A dedicated dengue ward has been opened in the city based Capital Hospital with 18 beds along with reservation of another 30 beds in another ward, said Director Dilip Panda on Monday.
Besides, a committee will be formed to review dengue treatment in the hospital and focus will be given on supply of platelets. The dengue patients will no more have to wait for platelets as an intercom facility has been facilitated between blood bank and dengue ward, added Dr Panda.
A laboratory technician will be employed for 24 hours who will collect blood sample for platelet count following doctor’s direction and sent it immediately to laboratory.
The hospital administration has also formed a special team for treatment of dengue patients including professors of various departments. Critical patients will be kept in special observation under the team. Their health condition reports will be sent to hospital director at every two hours interval.
Notably, as many as 231 dengue cases have been detected in Odisha so far.
