Bhubaneswar, Oct 9: After repeated allegations of dance bars in Bhubaneswar openly flouting established regulations and engaging bar girls in various illicit activities, the Excise Department has devised a plan to strengthen enforcement during the festive season.
The Excise Department has formed three specialized squads tasked with conducting surprise raids on bars operating beyond their designated closing hours and keeping a close vigil on any illegal activities taking place on their premises.
This proactive move comes shortly after a bar girl made a distressing allegation, asserting that the owner had been coercing her into participating in unlawful activities.
Bikash Nayak, the Excise inspector of Bhubaneswar, provided insights into the strategy, stating, "We have assembled three dedicated squads and a task force with the order to conduct surprise raids on dance bars. These teams are currently conducting night-time patrols."
Nayak issued a stern warning, indicating that if any bars are suspected of engaging in illegal activities and breaching the established operational guidelines and time restrictions, their surveillance cameras and hard drives will be confiscated for thorough investigation.
