Bhubaneswar, June 22: Members of the Bahrain Odia Society joined the celebrations of the 12th International Day of Yoga on June 21 at a programme organised by the Indian Embassy in Bahrain. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from members of the Indian diaspora, including women and children from the Odia community.

Indian Ambassador Vinod K. Jacob attended the programme and highlighted the significance and benefits of yoga in promoting a healthy and balanced lifestyle. He also participated in various yoga asanas and breathing exercises along with the attendees.

Addressing the gathering, Bahrain Odia Society President Ramachandra Sahu described yoga as an ancient Indian practice that has the power to bring positive transformation in an individual's life. He emphasized that yoga is not limited to physical exercise but serves as a holistic approach to overall well-being.

Senior member of the society, Kishore Das, said yoga extends beyond postures and physical fitness. He noted that yoga begins with the body, influences the mind and ultimately nurtures the soul. Describing yoga as a subtle science, he said it fosters harmony between the mind and body, as well as between individual and universal consciousness.

The celebration underscored the growing popularity of yoga among the Indian community in Bahrain and its role in promoting physical health, mental wellness and spiritual growth.
