Seventy-one golfers showcase skills at prestigious Paradip Port greens

Paradip: Golf enthusiasts witnessed a spectacular display of skill and precision this weekend as the Paradip Golf Club hosted its prestigious annual event. The 25th Invitation Cup Golf Tournament took place at the lush Paradip Port Golf Course, running from February 14 to February 15, 2026. Organized by the local club, the two-day event brought together talent from across the country.

Deputy Chairman of the Paradip Port Authority, Shri T. Venu Gopal, served as the Chief Guest and officially inaugurated the tournament, setting a high tone for the competition. The event saw a robust turnout, with 71 golfers representing seven premier golf clubs from various parts of India arriving to test their mettle on the greens.

Competition was fierce across multiple categories. In the Handicap (0–10) category, home turf advantage seemed to play a role as Shri Akshaya Ch. Sutar of Paradip Golf Club clinched the Champion title. The Handicap (11–19) category saw Dr. Debadarshi Rath from the Bhubaneswar Golf Club emerge victorious.

Further success came for local players in the Handicap (20–24) category, where Shri Ranjit Kr. Bomali of Paradip Golf Club took home the top honors. Additionally, Shri Shaswat Panda, representing the Bhubaneswar Golf Club, was awarded the coveted Best Gross award for his outstanding performance.

The closing ceremony was a celebratory affair. Former Chief Secretary of Odisha, Shri Asit Kumar Tripathy, joined Shri A. K. Bose, Advisor (Traffic), and other departmental heads to present prizes to the deserving winners.

Ensuring the event ran smoothly were the key office bearers of the Paradip Golf Club. President Shri Susil Chandra Nahak, along with Working President Dr. Durga Prasad Sethy, Captain A. C. Sutar, and Secretary Shri Manoj Kumar Mohanta, managed the proceedings, marking another successful chapter in the club's history.
