Union Minister to chair vital security meeting this Saturday

Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set for a significant two-day tour of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, starting this Friday. The highlight of the Amit Shah Andaman visit will be a high-level meeting of the Consultative Committee of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), scheduled for Saturday morning.

The Union Home Minister is expected to arrive in the islands on Friday to oversee a series of official engagements. The primary agenda involves chairing the MHA Consultative Committee meeting at the Hotel Sea-Princess in Wandoor. This crucial session will bring together Members of Parliament from both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha to deliberate on key issues falling under the ministry's purview.

Focus on Development and Security

Beyond the committee discussions, the Amit Shah Andaman visit underscores the government's focus on both administrative reforms and infrastructure development in the Union Territory. following the meeting, Shah will head to the ITF field in Sri Vijaya Puram (formerly Port Blair) to inaugurate a special exhibition on the Naveen Nyaya Sanhita.

Later in the day, the Home Minister will attend a major function at the Netaji Stadium in Sri Vijaya Puram. Here, he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stones for several Andaman development projects, signaling a boost for the region's infrastructure.

About the Consultative Committee

The Consultative Committee serves as a vital platform for informal yet substantive dialogue between MPs and the Union Home Minister Amit Shah. The body functions in an advisory capacity, facilitating discussions on critical topics such as internal security, border management, cybercrime, and criminal justice reforms.

The committee currently comprises 30 Members of Parliament - 14 from the Lok Sabha and 16 from the Rajya Sabha. Ministers of State for Home Affairs, Nityanand Rai and Bandi Sanjay Kumar, will also be present at the MHA Consultative Committee meeting.

Prominent attendees expected at the meeting include MPs Harsimrat Kaur Badal, Kalyan Banerjee, Ravi Shankar Prasad, Digvijaya Singh, and Sharad Pawar, among others. The gathering provides an opportunity for policymakers to review the implementation of the ministry's policies and programs directly with the Home Minister.
