New Delhi, November 16: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has made a significant arrest in the investigation into the recent car blast near the Red Fort in Delhi. Amir Rashid Ali, a Kashmiri man, was apprehended for allegedly conspiring with Umar Un Nabi, the man behind the wheel of the explosives-laden car, in the deadly attack that resulted in the deaths of 10 people.

Ali, who is from Samboora, Pampore in Jammu and Kashmir, is the registered owner of the Hyundai i20 used in the November 10 blast. He was arrested by the NIA in Delhi. According to a statement from the probe agency, “NIA investigations have revealed that Ali had collaborated with Umar Un Nabi, the suspected suicide bomber, to carry out the attack.”

Reports suggest that Ali had traveled to Delhi to facilitate the purchase of the Hyundai i20, which was later used in the explosion. CCTV footage from several locations in Old Delhi shows the car making multiple stops at busy intersections before detonating on the evening of November 10.

The NIA’s forensic investigation identified Umar Un Nabi, a resident of Pulwama in Jammu and Kashmir, as the deceased driver of the car. Nabi, who was also an Assistant Professor at Al Falah University in Faridabad, is believed to have been the one driving the vehicle at the time of the explosion.

In a related development, the Delhi Police had earlier detained three individuals, including two doctors from Al Falah University, which has become a key element in the ongoing investigation into the terror module.
