New Delhi, Aug 30: A disturbing incident has sparked all-night protests at an engineering college in Andhra Pradesh after a hidden camera was reportedly discovered in the women's hostel toilet.
According to students, the camera had been secretly recording videos of students, which were then leaked and sold by a senior student from the same college.
The incident occurred at Gudlavalleru Engineering College in Krishna district, prompting the Andhra Pradesh government to launch an inquiry.
Human Resource Development Minister Nara Lokesh took to X (formerly Twitter) to address the situation, stating, "I have ordered an inquiry on the hidden cameras allegations. Stringent action will be taken against the culprits and people responsible. I directed officials to ensure that these kinds of incidents do not recur in colleges."
The concealed camera was reportedly discovered by a group of female students last evening, causing immediate alarm and distress.
The police have arrested a senior student from the boys' hostel in connection with the incident and have seized his laptop and mobile phone. However, no leaked videos have been found so far.
