Nilagiri, June 28: A critical medical response was disrupted in Balasore district when an ambulance got stuck in a muddy road while en route to pick up a patient in Dakshina Kuarpur village, under Baunsabania Panchayat of Oupada Block in Nilagiri sub-division.

Despite efforts by local villagers to free the vehicle, the ambulance remained immobilized due to the extremely poor condition of the road. The incident has once again highlighted the dire state of rural connectivity, especially during the monsoon season.

Residents have expressed frustration over the lack of infrastructure development, particularly pointing to the Baulagadia-Nilagiri main road, which they claim has turned nearly impassable despite repeated protests and demands for repair.

Villagers have now turned their attention to the local panchayat, alleging negligence in maintaining internal roads. They also questioned the silence of former protestors who had earlier rallied for main road improvements but now remain inactive regarding the deteriorating village roads.

Locals have called on the panchayat authorities to urgently address the issue and escalate it to the district administration. They warned that failure to act will prompt renewed protests to demand proper road infrastructure and accountability.
