Bhubaneswar, Sept 8: Ahead of the Vice-Presidential election scheduled on November 9, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi on Monday departed for New Delhi for a series of important meetings.
This marks his second visit to the national capital in just a week, highlighting the significance of the upcoming discussions.
As per reports, alongside CM Majhi, BJP State President Manmohan Samal is also in Delhi. The two are scheduled to meet with all BJP MPs from Odisha at the residence of Balasore MP Pratap Sarangi.
The meeting, planned for tomorrow, takes place just ahead of the Vice-Presidential election on November 9. One-on-one discussions between the Chief Minister and the MPs are also expected to be part of the agenda.
The visit has fueled widespread speculation about a possible cabinet expansion in Odisha. As the BJP government in the state approaches its 15-month mark on September 12, expectations are rising regarding changes in the council of ministers.
At present, the cabinet consists of 16 ministers, some of whom hold multiple portfolios. Sources suggest that a cabinet expansion is almost inevitable, with several MLAs likely to be inducted.
In addition, the allocation of chairmanships for corporations and committees is expected to be finalized during this visit.
