Ahead of Lanka Tests, Stokes suffers hamstring injury

London, Aug 12: England Test captain Ben Stokes is likely to miss either the entire three-Test series, or part of it, owing to a hamstring injury. The first Test between England and the visiting Lankans will begin on August 21 at Old Trafford.
Already, England opening batter Zak Crawley has been ruled out the upcoming Test series against the island nation As per schedule, English men will play three games in a span of 21 days against Sri Lanka.
Regarding Stokes's injury, the ace all-rounder suffered a hamstring injury during a match in The Hundred. He was helped out of the field as he could not walk properly.
The extent of his injury will only be clear after the scan reports, sources said. Stokes was later seen walking with clutches. His teammate Harry Brook later confirmed that the injury could be serious.
England will play the second Test against Sri Lanka at The Lord's from August 29 and the third Test at The Oval from September.
After the Lanka Test series, England are schedule to travel to Pakistan in October for a three-match series against Shan Masood's side.
But at this point it is hard to say when can England expect their Test skipper Stokes can regain fitness to join the squad.
It can be recalled that injury has often affected Stokes's career, despite him being rated as one of the finest all-rounders of the world.
