Mumbai, Jan 23: The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has unveiled the nominations for the 98th Academy Awards, setting the stage for Hollywood’s biggest night. The film “Sinners” has made history by securing a record 16 nominations, surpassing the long-standing records held by All About Eve (1950), Titanic (1997), and La La Land (2016).

Following closely is “One Battle After Another”, which received 13 nominations, placing it second on the list of this year’s most-nominated films.

Meanwhile, “Marty Supreme”, “Frankenstein”, and “Sentimental Value” earned nine nominations each, while “Hamnet” remains a strong contender with eight nominations.

India’s official entry for the Oscars, “Homebound”, did not make it to the final nominations list. Directed by Neeraj Ghaywan, the film had been selected as India’s submission in the Best International Feature Film category.

The 98th Academy Awards ceremony is scheduled to take place on March 15, with American comedian Conan O’Brien set to host the event.
