New Delhi, Aug 23: Actor Prakash Raj has been reportedly booked by the police in Bagalkot district, Karnataka, due to a social media post where he allegedly ridiculed ISRO's Chandrayaan-3 lunar mission.
In the midst of Chandrayaan-3's significant achievement of landing near the Moon's south pole, Prakash Raj shared a cartoon on Twitter. The cartoon depicted a man in casual attire pouring tea, humorously referred to as the 'first picture from the Moon.' This portrayal seemed to subtly mock the Chandrayaan 3 mission's Vikram Lander. Subsequently, a complaint has been lodged in response to this post.
"A complaint has been filed against actor Prakash Raj for his post on the Chandrayaan-3 mission. Hindu organisations' leaders filed a complaint against him at Banahatti police station of Bagalkote district and demanded action," ANI reported.
In his tweet, the veteran actor shared the cartoon and wrote, "BREAKING NEWS:- First picture coming from the Moon by #VikramLander Wowww #justasking." The post prompted criticism from users who found his remark derogatory with people saying that the Chandrayaan-3 mission is linked to the country's pride.
According to ISRO, the Chandrayaan-3 is set to land on the moon on August 23, around 18:04 hours IST. With this, India will be the fourth country in the world to achieve this feat after the United States, Russia, and China. Also, India will be the only country in the world to land on the lunar south pole.
The primary objectives of Chandrayaan-3 mission are threefold -- to demonstrate safe and soft landing on lunar surface; to demonstrate rover roving on the moon, and to conduct in-situ scientific experiments.
