Bhubaneswar, January 16: A week-long crackdown on road violations across the Central Range of Cuttack has yielded impressive results, with 10,916 vehicles being inspected and a total of ₹44,34,000 in fines collected. This extensive operation, known asOperation Jeevan Rakshya, was carried out fromJanuary 7 to January 15, 2026, across the seven districts of Puri, Cuttack, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Khordha, and Nayagarh.

Under the leadership of Dr. Satyajit Naik, Inspector General of Police (IG), Central Range, Cuttack, the operation focused on ensuring compliance with traffic rules, improving road discipline, and preventing road accidents.

At the district level, police officers, under the guidance of theSuperintendent of Police (SP), carried out rigorous checks on public transport, heavy vehicles, and other motor vehicles. Emphasis was placed on violations such as overloading, failure to use safety gear, inadequate documentation, and other traffic infractions. No major suspicious activities were reported during the drive.

OnJanuary 15, 2026, further checks were conducted across all districts within the range:

  • Total vehicles checked:1,578
  • Commercial/Government buses checked:34
  • Heavy transport vehicles checked:17
  • Total fine collected:₹8,05,000

The highest number of checks was carried out in districts with higher traffic volume, highlighting the targeted enforcement efforts aimed at reducing violations and promoting safer roads.

Public Appeal:

The Central Range Police urges all road users to:

  • Strictly adhere to traffic rules
  • Wear helmets and seat belts at all times
  • Avoid overspeeding, drunk driving, and overloading
  • Ensure that driving documents are valid and vehicles are fit for the road

Operation Jeevan Rakshya will continue in the coming days to further strengthen road safety across the region.
