Cuttack, Feb 8: Cuttack Police have arrested five ambulance drivers on Thursday who were allegedly working as brokers in the SCB Medical College & Hospital.
The accused have been identified as Trinath Nayak, Sk Mituna, Biswajit Parida, Abdul Khan and Balia.
Police sources said, the ambulance drivers were allegedly persuading patients and their relatives to shift to private nursing homes as no beds were available in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of SCB Medical College & Hospital. On the other hand, they were getting their commission from the benefitted healthcare institutions for their brokery.
Based on frequent allegations from patients, police had recently initiated an investigation on it. Meanwhile, the police nabbed as many as five accused persons red-handed today and forwarded to court.
