Bhubaneswar: Altogether 400 players including 150 girls from across 19 districts and four institutions will fight for the honour in the 30th Inter-District & Odisha State Table Tennis Championships 2024, which commenced at the Biju Pattnaik Multipurpose Indoor Hall, Sector-7, CDA, Cuttack on Wednesday.
A brief opening ceremony was held before the matches began. Siddhartha Das, Director of Sports, Department of Sports & Youth Services, Government of Odisha, graced the event as the chief guest. Abhijeet Pal, Honorary Secretary of the Odisha Olympic Association, attended as the Guest of Honour. Rashmi Ranjan Samantaray, District Sports Officer, Cuttack, Rabindra Kumar Parida, Hony. Secretary, OSTTA & other members of the Odisha State Table Tennis Association were also present.
Brief results of the first day:-
Men’s Team Event :- All the districts and institution were placed in 4 groups.
In Group – A, the top seeded AG-Odisha defeated Keonjhar by 3-0 games, Kiit-B by 3-0 games.
Puri –B defeated KIIT –B by 3-0 games.
In Group – B, Cuttack-A defeated Puri –A by 3-0 games, KIIT –A by 3-0 games.
Puri –A defeated Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) by 3-0 games.
In Group – C, Khurdha-A defeated Angul –A by 3-0 games, Balasore –A by 3-0 games.
East Coast Railway defeated Balasore by 3-0 games
In Group – D, Cuttack-B defeated Berhampur –A by 3-0 games, Bargarhby 3-0 games.
Bhubaneswar defeated Bargarh by 3-0 games.
