Bhubaneswar, October 18:  In a major crackdown on illegal firecracker activities, Odisha Police has seized firecrackers valued at over ₹50 lakh and arrested 30 individuals as part of the ongoing special drive, "AGNI," in the Central Range of Cuttack, according to Dr. Satyajit Naik, DIG, Central Range.

The "AGNI" operation, which started on October 11, 2025, was launched under the guidance of Odisha's Director General of Police (DGP). The drive aims to combat the illegal storage, unauthorized transportation, and unlawful sale of explosives and firecrackers ahead of the festive season. This action has dealt a significant blow to illegal networks involved in the hazardous trade of explosives across the state.

The drive will continue with periodic interventions and awareness campaigns throughout the festive season and beyond, ensuring the safety of lives and property. The operation is slated to run until October 24, 2025.
