Tikiri, Mar 27: At least 25 people were injured, two of them critically, after a bus carrying them overturned at Mukundapur Ghat in Gunupur Odisha’s Rayagada district.
According to sources, the mishap took place when the passenger bus with over 45 passengers on board was on its way to Tikiri from Hinjilicut.
On being informed, fire service personnel and National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) ambulances and Fire Services personnel rushed to the spot and rescued the injured passengers.
All the injured have been admitted to Rayagada District Headquarters Hospital (DHH). While 25 passengers sustained injuries, the condition of two was stated to be critical.
While the exact cause of the accident was yet to be ascertained, the driver of the vehicle was suspected to have lost control over the wheels before it overturned.
A police team reached the spot and launched an investigation into the accident.
