Bhubaneswar, March 5: The 61st Annual Athletic Meet of the Regional Institute of Education (RIE), Bhubaneswar, concluded marking the end of two days of intense competition and outstanding performances.

Md. Jafar Iqbal, International B 1 Category Cricketer addressed the valedictory event as the chief guest. He urged the students and prospective teachers to cultivate perseverance, resilience, and dedication. He congratulated the prize winners and participants and emphasised the importance of overall fitness - physical, mental, and emotional.

Prof. Manasi Goswami, Principal of the Institute presided over the meeting and welcomed the Chief Guest. She extended her congratulations to all participants and winners and highlighted the recommendations of the NEP 2020 on sports-integrated learning to foster physical fitness, teamwork, and mental health, treating sports on par with academic subjects.

The event concluded with the much-awaited prize distribution ceremony, where winners were honoured with medals for their outstanding performances. A special moment of pride came when Prithvi House was declared the March Past champions, recognized for their discipline, synchronization, and commanding performance during the ceremonial parade. The trophy was presented by distinguished alumni of the institute, adding a nostalgic and celebratory touch to the occasion.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, who showcased their athletic competency across various track and field events. The second day featured the final rounds of relay races, long jump, high jump, shot put. Among the most anticipated events were the 100-meter and 200-meter sprint finals, where athletes exhibited remarkable speed and endurance.
