14-year old school student’s book on procrastination unveiled by SOA Founder President

Bhubaneswar, Aug. 18: ‘Life: A Series of Procrastination’, a book authored by a 14-year-old school student, Shreyashi Pattanaik, offering a thoughtful and relatable perspective on the habit of postponing tasks, decisions and dreams, was unveiled by Prof. (Dr.) Manojranjan Nayak, Founder President of Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan (SOA) on the Independence Day.

Written in a simple and reflective style, the book explores the reasons behind procrastination and looks beyond the common perception that it is rooted on merely laziness. Through personal experiences and reflections, the author, a Class Nine student of D.A.V. School, Pokhariput, touches upon fear, uncertainty, perfectionism and the tendency to postpone dreams for ‘some other day’.

The book contains a simple message for students and young dreamers explaining that life need not be perfect to make a beginning and that taking the first step is often the most important one.

A keen reader, Shreyashi also enjoys painting and dancing and has a special interest in exploring stories in everyday life. Her curiosity and observation of the world around her inspired her to express her thoughts through writing.

Prof. Nayak congratulated the young author and wished her success in her future endeavours.

Shreyashi is the daughter of Dr. Sovan Pattanaik, Associate Professor at School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, SOA Deemed to be University, and Dr. Jasmin Panda, Head, Pharmacy, IMS and SUM Hospitals.

Such achievement at a tender age highlights Shreyashi’s creativity, imagination and ability to express herself through her writing.
