Kandhamal, Nov 17: A severe cold wave is sweeping across Odisha, and the chill is expected to persist for the next two days. The drop in temperature has thrown normal life into disarray.

In Kandhamal, particularly in G. Udaygiri, the lowest temperature recorded so far this winter season has dropped to 5.8°C.

In Daringbadi, the temperature has dipped to 8°C, and in Semiliguda, it has reached 7.4°C. The state has seen a significant decline in temperatures, with 13 cities reporting temperatures falling below 12°C. Cuttack and Bhubaneswar are also witnessing temperatures below 14°C.

For the next four days, intense cold will be experienced across the state, making the air feel biting cold. In over 10 places, the mercury could drop below 12°C. In places like Phulbani, temperatures will hover around 9°C. The northern, interior, and southern parts of Odisha will experience this severe cold wave, according to the predictions of the Meteorological Department. No significant rise in temperature is expected in the coming days.

However, after four days, the night temperature may rise by 2 to 3 degrees. Despite this, the cold will remain severe. The coldest area in the state has shifted to G. Udaygiri in Kandhamal, which recorded the lowest temperature of 5.8°C. This is the lowest temperature so far in this winter season. Due to the ongoing cold wave, people in this region are facing severe discomfort. Locals have been experiencing severe cold, with chilly winds making conditions even more unbearable.
