Nayagarh, July 25: At least 12 passengers sustained injuries, with four reported to be in critical condition, after a passenger bus overturned near Sariganda Chhak on the Khordha-Bolangir National Highway on Friday morning.
According to preliminary reports, the mishap occurred when the bus attempted to overtake a truck and lost control, veering off the road and overturning in a nearby paddy field. The bus was carrying 17 passengers at the time of the incident.
Emergency responders rushed the injured to the Nayagarh District Headquarters Hospital. Among them, four passengers have been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit and are said to be in critical condition.
The bus driver reportedly fled the scene following the accident. Police have since launched an investigation into the incident and are searching for the absconding driver.
Further investigation is underway.
