Bhubaneswar, May 19: Odisha’s Deputy Chief Minister, Kanak Vardhan Singhdeo, will represent India at the South Asia Labor Mobility Conference, organized by the World Bank. The two-day conference will take place on May 20th and 21st in Thimphu, Bhutan.
Singhdeo, who currently serves as the Chairman of the Odisha Migrant Workers Task Force, will participate in discussions focused on the challenges faced by migrant workers and explore long-term policy solutions. His participation is expected to contribute valuable insights into addressing migrant labor issues and formulating strategies to provide sustainable solutions.
Smt. Chitra Arumugam, the Principal Secretary of the Government of Odisha will be accompanying Singh Deo. The conference will also see representatives from various countries, including Bhutan, South Asian nations, North Africa, Italy, Australia, Arab nations, the Philippines, Papua New Guinea, the Maldives, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Jamaica, Bangladesh, as well as officials from the World Bank.
The conference aims to address key concerns surrounding labor mobility in the region and facilitate international collaboration on migrant labor policies.
