Jajpur, Feb 3: President Droupadi Murmu, on the second day of her six-day visit to Odisha, offered prayers at the revered Maa Biraja Temple in Jajpur on Tuesday, as per her official schedule. The President, who is on a visit to various parts of the state, paid homage to Maa Biraja, the presiding deity of the district, and engaged in rituals at the temple.

During her visit, President Murmu spent over one-and-a-half hours at the temple complex. At the time of reporting, she was performing the Pinda Daan ritual at Nabhi Gaya, a sacred site located near the Biraja Temple. The ceremony, which is an important Hindu ritual, was expected to take around 45 minutes.

After completing the Pinda Daan, the President was slated to remain at Biraja Peeth until about 11:30 am, following which she was scheduled to visit other temples within the Biraja Temple complex, dedicated to various presiding deities.

While the itinerary included the possibility of an interaction with the public, no official confirmation had been provided regarding such a meeting.

To ensure the smooth conduct of the visit, the entire temple premises were barricaded, and extensive security arrangements were put in place. Following her temple visit, President Murmu was scheduled to proceed to the helipad and travel to Balasore to attend the 12th convocation ceremony of Fakir Mohan University. After the event, she is expected to return to Puri later in the evening.

In anticipation of the President’s visit, security measures have been ramped up across Bhubaneswar, Jajpur, and Balasore to ensure the safe and orderly execution of her scheduled engagements.
