Red Fort blast Suspect's Video Reveals Extremist Ideology

In a disturbing video clip that has recently come to light, Dr Umar un Nabi, the individual identified as the perpetrator of the recent Red Fort blast that claimed the lives of at least 14 people, discusses his radical interpretation of certain terms. Speaking in flawless English, Dr. Umar attempts to explain why the act commonly described as "suicide bombing" is, in his extremist view, better understood as a "martyrdom operation" in Islam. This footage provides an unsettling look into the mindset of the doctor-turned-terrorist.

Investigators probing the November 10 explosion near the historic monument currently suspect the blast was an accident, noting that Dr. Umar had allegedly intended to carry out a much larger-scale terror attack subsequently. The video is believed to have been recorded by Umar to indoctrinate other individuals, suggesting his role as a radicalised member within the Faridabad terror module.

In the footage, Umar posits that a martyrdom operation involves a person who is certain of their death at a specific location and time, actively going against the natural expectation of survival. He mentions that there are multiple conflicting arguments against this concept. Officials link Umar and his accomplices to the Pakistan-based terror group Jaish-e-Mohammad.

The explosion was devastating, ripping through a congested street close to the Red Fort, injuring over 20 people, and shattering nearby shops in the busy Old Delhi area.

The cell involved in the plot allegedly included around nine to ten members, notably several doctors affiliated with Al-Falah University. These medical credentials were reportedly misused to acquire the necessary chemicals and raw materials for manufacturing the explosives.

Dr. Umar, who originated from the Koil village in Pulwama, was reportedly a quiet, reserved person who spent much of his time reading. However, police sources indicate a significant shift in his behavior in the months leading up to the Red Fort blast. He had ceased attending university duties since late October and was frequently moving between Delhi and Faridabad, visiting mosques in areas like Ramleela Maidan.

Following raids in Faridabad that resulted in the discovery of nearly 2,900 kg of ammonium nitrate and the arrest of some associates, Umar vanished on November 9, reportedly switching off multiple phones and going into hiding near Dhauj village. Further investigations revealed that Umar and an arrested accomplice, Dr. Muzammil Ganaie, had traveled to Turkey, where their handlers are suspected of being located, further cementing the Delhi terror plot’s international connection.
