Tension Grips Border Areas as Drones Hover Over Jammu

Multiple sectors along the Line of Control (LoC) and International Border (IB) in Jammu and Kashmir witnessed high tension on Sunday evening. Suspected Pakistani drones were spotted hovering over forward areas, prompting immediate retaliation and extensive search measures by Indian security forces.

Sightings occurred almost simultaneously across Rajouri, Samba, and Poonch districts. Officials confirmed that these flying objects originated from across the border, entered Indian airspace briefly, and returned to the Pakistani side after lingering for several minutes.

Army Retaliates in Nowshera

Alert troops guarding the Nowshera sector in Rajouri reacted swiftly to the threat. Upon observing a drone hovering over Gania-Kalsian village around 6:35 pm, soldiers opened fire using medium and light machine guns in an attempt to bring it down.

Around the same time, another aerial object displaying blinking lights was tracked near Khabbar village in Teryath, Rajouri district. This object reportedly entered from the direction of Dharmsal village in Kalakote and proceeded further toward Bharakh.

Widespread Activity Reported

Similar activity kept security forces on their toes in other crucial sectors. A drone-like object was seen hovering over Chak Babral village in the Ramgarh sector of Samba at roughly 7:15 pm. Earlier, at 6:25 pm, movement was detected moving from Tain towards Topa in the Mankote sector of Poonch.

Massive search operations have been launched on the ground to ensure no payload was dropped during these intrusions. This spike in aerial activity follows a serious incident on Friday night, where security forces recovered a consignment of arms—including two pistols, magazines, and a grenade—allegedly dropped by a Pakistani drone in Samba's Paloora village.

Authorities remain on high alert to thwart any attempts to smuggle weapons or narcotics across the border.
