Bhubaneswar, Dec. 5: In a significant boost to public health infrastructure in Odisha, the Institute of Medical Sciences and SUM Hospital-2 at Phulnakhara on Wednesday unveiled a new Antiretroviral Treatment (ART) Centre to become the first private medical college in the state to avail this facility.

This crucial facility, established in collaboration with the State AIDS Cell and the Odisha State AIDS Control Society (OSACS), aims to provide comprehensive care and support to people living with HIV/AIDS in the region.

The inaugural ceremony was held at the facility and was graced by a host of senior officials from the hospital administration and partner organizations.

Dr. Arvind, Joint Director, representing the collaborating health agencies, highlighted the importance of integrating HIV/AIDS care within multispecialty hospital settings. "This partnership between IMS and SUM Hospital-2, the State AIDS Cell andOSACS will ensure that treatment is accessible, consistent and stigma free,” he said.

“It marks a critical step forward in our mission to achieve a HIV-free Odisha,” Dr. Arvind remarked.

The hospital management team present included Dr. Tapasi Pati, Additional Medical Superintendent, who emphasized the hospital’s commitment to providing advanced medical services for all demographic groups. Dr. Samanyoya Gocchait, Deputy Medical Superintendent, spoke about the operational readiness of the centre confirming the availability of necessary man power and advanced drug supplies.
