Bhubaneswar, December 16: As many as 606 electric vehicles charging stations (EVCS) have been installed in Odisha during the last five years. Out of the total 606 charging stations, 165 are fast charging stations and 441 are slow charging stations.

This information was given by the Minister of State for Heavy Industries, Bhupathiraju Srinivasa Varma in a written reply in the Lok Sabha today.

There is a total of 29,151 electric vehicle charging stations installed all over India during the last five years. Out of these, 8,805 EV charging stations are fast charging stations and 20,346 EV charging stations are slow charging stations.

Setting up of a charging station is an unlicensed activity and private players can install Electric Vehicle charging station as per Ministry of Power (MoP) Guidelines of September 17, 2024.

An allocation of Rs 2,000 crore has been made under the PM E-DRIVE Scheme for deployment of EV charging infrastructure on pan-India basis. The operational guidelines for deployment of EVPCS have been issued on September 26.

At 6,096, Karnataka topped the list electric vehicle charging stations followed by 4,166 in Maharashtra, 2,316 in Uttar Pradesh, 1,957 in Delhi, 1,780 in Tamil Nadu, 1,515 in Rajasthan, 1,389 in Kerala, 1,205 in Gujarat, 1,146 in Madhya Pradesh and 1,062 in Telangana.
