Jeypore, Dec 15: A woman in Odisha’s Jeypore town has been accused of attempting to murder her 13-year-old daughter.

The police quickly intervened, rescuing the minor girl and initiating a thorough investigation into the incident.

The woman, identified as Ambika Khosla is said to have been practicing sorcery for several days. Reports suggest that her daughter, however, had been practicing Christianity and regularly attending church, which allegedly led to a conflict between the two.

According to eyewitnesses, Khosla tried to behead her daughter in a suspected ritual sacrifice at their residence in Irrigation Colony, Jeypore in the Koraput district. Neighbors, hearing the victim’s screams, immediately alerted the authorities. The police arrived at the scene, rescued the girl, and found a sword and other religious materials, which may have been used for the ritual.

One local source stated, “The woman had been worshipping Goddess Kali and engaging in sorcery, while her daughter followed Christianity. The woman had previously objected to her daughter’s religious practices and attempted to sacrifice her today.”

However, some residents believe that Khosla may have been suffering from mental health issues. They reported that her behavior had seemed unusual in recent days.

“The police must conduct a thorough investigation and take strict action against the woman,” said a local. “They should also ensure the safety and protection of the young girl.”

The investigation is underway, and authorities are working to determine the full extent of the situation.
