​​​​​​​Dhenkanal, Oct 14: In a tragic incident, a railway track maintenance worker was struck and killed by an express train while performing foot patrolling duties in Odapada block of Odisha’s Dhenkanal district late last night.

The deceased has been identified as Yogendra Singh (36), a railway track maintenance worker.

As per reports, he was patrolling the tracks between the Chintapokhari gate and Hindol Road railway station near Haladiabahal village. As he was returning after completing his patrol, he was hit by an express train. Yogendra died at the scene from the impact of the collision.

Upon getting the information, Railway police and the Government Railway Police (GRP) arrived at the scene and seized the body. Subsequently, it was sent for post-mortem.

Further investigation into the matter is underway.
