Two premier institutes join hands for future-ready education

In a significant development for higher education in Eastern India, two of the region's premier institutes have joined forces to foster interdisciplinary learning. The Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC), Dhenkanal, and the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Sambalpur, have formally entered into a partnership. The agreement was finalized this morning at the IIM Sambalpur campus, where a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed to launch this strategic alliance.

The pact was inked by Prof. Mahadeo Jaiswal, Director of IIM Sambalpur, and Mr. Madhu L. Nag, IIS, the Registrar of IIMC. The ceremony was also attended by Prof. Anand Pradhan, the Regional Director of IIMC Dhenkanal, marking the beginning of a new chapter in collaborative academia.

Bridging the Gap Between Business and Communication

This collaboration aims to break down the traditional silos between management studies and media education. Under the terms of the agreement, both institutions will engage in a robust exchange of knowledge. This includes swapping faculty members and students to broaden their academic horizons. Furthermore, the institutes plan to co-host seminars, capacity-building workshops, and conferences. A major focus will be placed on joint research projects that explore the intersection of entrepreneurship, digital transformation, and mass communication.

Creating Future-Ready Professionals

During the signing event, Prof. Mahadeo Jaiswal expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership. He highlighted IIM Sambalpur’s dedication to innovation, noting that this alliance would allow students to navigate the complex mix of technology, management, and communication. The goal is to groom professionals who are adaptable and ready for the future workforce.

Echoing these sentiments, Mr. Madhu L. Nag emphasized that combining the strengths of a top-tier management school with a premier media institute offers unique value. He stated that the collaboration would drive leadership development and open up new academic avenues for scholars from both sides.

The Need for Interdisciplinary Learning

Prof. Anand Pradhan, Regional Director of IIMC Dhenkanal, pointed out the necessity of such partnerships in today’s fast-paced digital world. He explained that IIM scholars would now have access to IIMC’s expertise in storytelling and journalism, while media students could gain vital insights into management and digital innovation. According to Prof. Pradhan, this MoU represents the kind of cross-disciplinary approach that is urgently needed in India’s knowledge ecosystem.

Both institutions remain optimistic that this synergy will significantly enhance research output and industry engagement across the region.
