Govt seeks flood damage assessment report from Collectors

Bhubaneswar, Aug 17: Odisha government has asked the Collectors of flood affected districts to submit a report on damage caused due to the recent heavy rainfall that triggered flash flood in several parts of the state. "The Collectors of the affected districts have been asked to submit detailed reports on the damage to public properties and crop loss caused by the recent floods and heavy rainfall," said Revenue Minister Sudam Marndi on Monday. The Collectors have been asked to stay alert for the possible flood in Godavari river, he added. There are no reports of extensive damage to public properties due to flood in the state. People were evacuated to safe places during flood in low lying areas and they are returning back home now, the Minister said. A person was killed and another one was injured in wall collapse in Balangir district, he added.
