Bhubaneswar, Dec 1: The 125th birth anniversary of the renowned freedom fighter and social reformer Ramadevi will be celebrated with grand festivities across the state from today. The three-day celebration, which is being organized by the Odisha government, will feature a series of cultural, educational, and commemorative events, highlighting her immense contributions to the Indian independence movement and her work in the field of women’s empowerment.

Ramadevi was a prominent leader who played a pivotal role in the freedom struggle and was known for her strong advocacy for women’s rights. Throughout her life, she was deeply involved in nationalistic movements and worked tirelessly to uplift the marginalized sections of society, especially women. Her significant contributions continue to inspire generations, particularly in Odisha.

The celebrations will take place in multiple cities, including Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Jajpur, and Angul, where a series of events will pay tribute to her life and legacy. Among the notable events will be cultural performances, public lectures, and exhibitions showcasing her contributions to social causes.

The state government has organized a special exhibition highlighting the freedom struggle, Ramadevi’s efforts in women’s education, and her role in shaping modern Odisha. The festival will feature a statue unveiling ceremony at the Ramadevi Memorial in Jajpur, which will be attended by prominent political and social leaders.

Several prominent leaders will participate in the event. There will be speeches highlighting Ramadevi's legacy, especially her tireless fight for social justice and gender equality.
