Bhubaneswar, January 17: The Odisha State Election Commission has indicated that the next Panchayat elections will likely take place in January and February 2027, as the tenure of current Panchayat bodies ends.
State Election Commissioner Madhusudan Padhi announced that a preparatory meeting was held to review arrangements for both Panchayat and Urban Local Body elections.
A door-to-door voter survey will be conducted to ensure updated electoral rolls, with completion expected by March, though the process may be delayed due to the census.
Padhi also clarified that the voter survey is separate from the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process and that booth reorganisation may be undertaken for better voter convenience.
