Bhubaneswar, November 14: The Odisha government is set to introduce a new, comprehensive Odisha Land Management Act aimed at streamlining land-related processes across the state, Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari announced during a review meeting at the Puri Circuit House. The proposed legislation will replace several outdated and complex revenue laws, simplifying land record management and mutation processes for citizens through their local tehsildars.
"The current land laws have numerous outdated provisions that lead to unnecessary delays and bureaucratic challenges," Pujari said. In addition to the new law, the government plans to amend the Odisha Survey and Settlement Act, which will grant tehsildars more authority in decision-making.
Highlighting the unique land management issues in Puri, Pujari pointed out that different sections of land are overseen by various departments, such as the Urban Development Authority, RERA, and the Endowment Department. To address these complexities, the Puri collector is tasked with submitting a detailed report on land-related challenges by the end of December.
Following an assessment of this report, the government will introduce necessary amendments to resolve land disputes and ensure a smoother process going forward.
