The Kapoor scion plans to honor his family's cinematic legacy

Bollywood star Ranbir Kapoor is reportedly preparing to relaunch the iconic RK Studios, a banner established by his legendary grandfather, Raj Kapoor. This significant move is not just a business decision but a personal mission to revive the Kapoor family legacy for a new generation.

The most exciting part of the revival is the news that Ranbir Kapoor plans to make his directorial debut under the relaunched banner. According to reports, several scripts are already being considered. To ensure the new RK Studios makes a massive impact, Kapoor is planning collaborations with top industry talents, including director Ayan Mukerji and superstar Deepika Padukone.

This initiative aims to blend the classic values of RK Studios with modern filmmaking. The plan may also include developing new infrastructure, such as a production office and a screening theatre, to create a new creative hub in Mumbai. This was a vision also held by Ranbir's late father, Rishi Kapoor, who wanted to see the family's contribution to cinema continue.

The original RK Studios, founded in 1948, holds a legendary status in Indian cinema. It produced timeless classics like 'Awaara', 'Barsaat', 'Mera Naam Joker', 'Bobby', and 'Ram Teri Ganga Maili'.

However, the studio's golden era faded. The last film produced under the banner was 'Aa Ab Laut Chalen' in 1999, which was directed by Rishi Kapoor. After a devastating fire in 2017 destroyed much of the property and precious memorabilia, the family sold the original studio grounds.

Now, Ranbir Kapoor's plan to revive RK Studios marks a new chapter. By stepping into the role of a director and producer, he is taking charge as the new custodian of his family's rich cinematic history, bridging its iconic past with a promising future.
