Bhubaneswar, January 6: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Tuesday released the English and Hindi translations of 'Madalapanji' and the English translation of 'Rudrasudhanidhi' in a fucntion held in New Delhi.
“The English and Hindi translations of 'Madalapanji' and the English translation of 'Rudrasudhanidhi' will help bring Odisha's history and philosophy closer to non-Odia readers. These publications will remain a valuable asset for researchers and language enthusiasts of future generations. Congratulations to all researchers and translators,” said Pradhan.
A total of 55 scholarly volumes in classical Indian languages, including interpretation of Tirukkural in Sign Language have been released by the Minister. This included 41 literary works developed by the Centres of Excellence for Classical Kannada, Telugu, Malayalam and Odia under the Central Institute of Indian Languages (CIIL) and 13 books along with a 45-episode Sign Language interpretation series of the Tirukkural by the Central Institute of Classical Tamil (CICT) have been released by the Minister.
“These literary works in Kannada, Telugu, Malayalam, Odia, Tamil and Sign Language is a part of our larger national effort to place India’s linguistic heritage at the centre of education, research and cultural pride,” said Pradhan.
“Our languages are a unifying force. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has always emphasised that all Indian languages are national languages. Indian languages have stood the test of time despite the attempts to destroy them,” said Pradhan.
Highlighting Central Government’s initiative to promote all Indian languages in the country, Pradhan said, “From including more languages in the scheduled list to translation of classical texts in Indian languages to encouraging education in Indian languages, PM Narendra Modi’s Government has worked extensively to strengthen and promote all Indian languages.”
“India is the mother of democracy and also a country of immense linguistic diversity. It should be our responsibility to ensure that our historical, cultural and literary wealth is preserved and future generations made aware of,” said Pradhan.
