New Delhi, July 15: Zomato and Swiggy have increased their platform fee from Rs 5 to Rs 6 per order—a 20% hike—in Delhi and Bengaluru. This fee is distinct from delivery charges, GST, restaurant fees, and handling costs. The higher platform fee will soon extend to other cities. This fee adjustment is part of the platforms' strategy to manage expenses and boost revenue. Previously, in April, Zomato had raised its platform fee by 25%, starting from Rs 2 last August and gradually increasing it to Rs 3 to enhance profitability. The food delivery giants aim to generate between Rs 1.25 to 1.5 crore daily through this platform fee.
