Bhubaneswar, Sept 20: At a time when the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bhubaneswar is working out on researchs relating to development of semiconductors and chips, an ace MNC the ZOHO Group of Companies has registered for semiconductor ventures in Odisha.
The ZOHO Group of Companies has expressed interest to set up its electronics and IT industries near Odisha’s Capital City Bhubaneswar at Khordha.
One of the IT software& Hardware Majors of the ZOHO Group, the Selectric Semiconductor Manufacture Pvt Ltd. will initiate its venture in the Khordha Industrial Estate.
The signature of the ZOHO Group and its IT subsidiary the Semiconductor Manufacture Pvt Ltd. came to fore after the Company registered its name in the MeiTY, an agency of the Electronics & IT Ministry, Government of India that deals with the digital econmomy recently.
According to the Minister of State for the Skill Development &Technical Education Sampad Chandra Swain, the ZOHO group is keen to establish semiconductor units in Odisha with investing a Capital of Rs 3,000 Crore.
Here in the Khorda unit the ZOHO Group will manufacture semiconductors, Silcon Carbide Devices which will primarily assembled in Solar panels and other renewable energy hardware, EVMs and high version automotives, Swain added.
Worth mentioning, as many as 12 IT and semiconductor industries are in the pipeline to start their ventures in Odisha with an investment of at least Rs 39,000 crore.
However, responding to the media reports ZOHO's CEO Sridhar Vembu wrote on X, " I do not like to comment on rumors and speculation but today's news item on our semiconductor investment is inaccurate. Our investment proposal is still pending with various authorities and decisions have not yet been made."
