Indian politics defined by conduct of Atal Bihari Vajpayee says PM Modi in emotional tribute

Thursday marked a significant moment in Indian history as the country celebrated the 101st birth anniversary of former Prime Minister and Bharat Ratna, Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Leading the tributes, Prime Minister PM Narendra Modi hailed the late statesman as a beacon of dignity whose life serves as the ultimate benchmark for political conduct in India.

Sharing his thoughts on social media platform X, PM Modi emphasized that true leadership is defined by actions rather than high positions. He noted that Vajpayee’s unwavering commitment to placing national interest above personal gain continues to inspire generations.

"Excellence is established not by position, but by conduct," PM Modi wrote, quoting a Sanskrit subhashita to describe Vajpayee’s ideological steadfastness. He urged citizens to draw inspiration from the former PM's life, which guided society through ethical leadership.

Lucknow Welcomes New Memorial

Beyond the digital tributes, the day features a major event in Lucknow, where PM Narendra Modi is scheduled to arrive this afternoon. At approximately 2:30 PM, he will inaugurate the Rashtra Prerna Sthal, a grand project designed to institutionalize the values of India’s towering leaders.

This massive complex, spread over 65 acres, has been constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 230 crore. It stands as a tribute to the democratic and developmental journey of the nation.

Grand Statues and Lotus Museum

Visitors to the Rashtra Prerna Sthal will be greeted by three colossal 65-foot-high bronze statues. These statues honour Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee, Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya, and Atal Bihari Vajpayee, symbolizing their immense contribution to Indian political thought.

Furthermore, the site features a state-of-the-art museum built in the shape of a lotus. Spanning nearly 98,000 square feet, the museum utilizes immersive technology to chronicle the legacy of these visionary leaders. This initiative aligns with the Prime Minister's vision to preserve the ideals of national luminaries for future generations.
