Dhenkanal, Aug 29: An elderly couple was admitted to the hospital with severe burn injuries in their bodies their son and daughter-in-law allegedly poured hot water on the parents.
The incident took place at Bhuban in Odisha’s Dhenkanal district on Thursday.
The couple, identified as Buddhimanta Sahu (70) and his wife Baji Sahu (65), is under treatment in the Bhuban CHC.
The accused have been identified as Rabi Sahu and his wife Nandini.
According to the complaint lodged with the police, Budhimanta had built a house which was equally shared among his four sons. However, the eldest son Rabi and his wife Nandini took possession of the house forcefully.As the parents opposed it saying immoral, Rabi and his wife started physical and mental torture to the old parents. Even they forced the elderly couple to live on the streets for days.
When Buddhimanta and Baji tried to enter their house on August 27, they were met with resistance from their son and daughter-in-law. As they yet insisted to live in their residence, the enraged son and his wife allegedly poured hot water on them from the rooftop of the house.
As a result, the elderly couple suffered severe burn injuries who were rushed by the locals to hospital.
Following this, Budhimanta filed a complaint in the Bhuban Police in this connection.
However, no action has been taken against the accused persons so far, alleged the elderly persons.
