Dhenkanal, June 14: A youth was allegedly thrashed to death reportedly over a land dispute in Parjang locality of Odisha’s Dhenkanal district on Thursday.
The deceased has been identified as Achutananda Nath and the incident has been reported from Ambapalas village under Parjang police limits in the district.
As per reports, three miscreants, identified as Trinath Nath, his son Sumant Nath, and Sumant’s wife Mami Nath, attacked Achutananda when he was returning home after taking a bath in the village pond on Thursday.
In the attack, he sustained grievous injuries on his head and back and died on the spot.
Upon getting the information, Parjang police reached the spot and seized the body. Subsequently, it was sent for post-mortem.
Meanwhile, Achutananda’s elder brother said that his brother had enmity with a few families in the village over a land dispute and alleged that the killing might be a fallout of that dispute.
A probe has been launched into the matter and necessary actions will follow, said the police.
