Keonjhar, May 4: A youth in Odisha's Keonjhar allegedly killed his elderly mother for delayed lunch.
The incident took place at the Khireitangara village under the Turumunga police limit in the Keonkhar district on Saturday.
The accused has been identified as Surendra Naik and the deceased is Gouri Naik.
Sources said, Surendra returned his home in an inebriated condition and asked her mother to serve food. As his mother served it after some minutes Surendra became red face and attacked the elderly mother mercilessly. Meanwhile, he strangulated her mother’s throat who died on the spot.
On being informed by the locals, the Turumunga police rushed to the spot and took the accused into custody. Following this, the body was sent for post-mortem.
A murder case has been registered and the accused has been sent to judicial custody, said the police.
