Dhenkanal, Aug 20: A drunken youth allegedly hacked his elderly mother to death on refusal of money for fetching liquor.
The brutal incident took place at Raitala village under the Gondia police limits in Dhenkanal district on Tuesday.
The deceased has been identified as Tikili Nayak whereas the accused is Ganesh Nayak.
Sources said, Ganesh urged his mother to give money for his booze which was strongly denied by the mother.
Irked over his mother’s refusal, Ganesh hacked his mother with a machete and fled away from the spot. Responding to the woman’s screen, locals rushed to the crime spot and recovered her body from a pool of blood.
On being informed, Gondia police rushed to nab the accused but in vain as he played a hide & sick with the cops, somewhere hiding in the nearest reserve forest.
Following instructions of Dhenkanal SP, armd police accompanied by forest officials initiated a manhunt to apprehend the accused.
