Bhubaneswar, Aug 11: A youth was found dead in the Daya West Canal in Bahadalpur in Bhubaneswar today. The deceased has been identified as Jyoti Ranjan Behera, a resident of Bahadalpur. His motorcycle was also found at the incident site.
Family members have raised suspicions of foul play, alleging that Jyoti may have been murdered. According to reports, the incident occurred last night when Jyoti was returning home from a local market at around 10 PM. However, he did not reach home. His family members tried to contact him, and after a frantic search in the nearby area, they could not locate him.
This morning, Jyoti’s family spotted his body along with his motorcycle in the Daya West Canal. Police and forensic teams reached the scene to collect evidence, and a preliminary investigation has been initiated.
Jyoti’s elder brother has filed a complaint, alleging that his brother was murdered. He stated that Jyoti spoke to his wife around 10:30 PM, but after that, there were no further calls. His phone remained switched off for several hours. When the body and the bike were recovered, the police noticed that the bike key was missing.
According to the family, Jyoti’s motorcycle and body were found on the right side of the road, while his bike was last seen on the left side near the market. His brother insists this was not an accident but a deliberate murder. The police have started their investigation and are looking into all possible angles.
