Bhubaneswar, Mar 5: In a tragic incident, a youth reportedly died of drug overdose in the capital city Bhubaneswar Monday.
The deceased has been identified as Deepak Sahu, a resident of Rangali slum in the Delta chhak area of the city.
According to sources, Deepak went out with some youths yesterday morning. Later in the afternoon, two of his friends brought him home in an unconscious state and informed his family members that he has overdosed on brown sugar.
Thereafter, his parents rushed him to Capital Hospital where the attending doctors declared him dead.
Upon getting the information, police reached the hospital and seized the body. Later, it was sent for post-mortem.
Though the exact reason behind Deepak’s death is yet to be ascertained, his parents alleged that he was murdered by some miscreants by overdosing him on Heroine for some monetary reasons.
The deceased’s family members filed a complaint at Khandagiri Police Station in this regard.
A probe has been launched into the matter and necessary actions will follow, said the police.
