Dhenkanal, March 17: A youth and his brother were held by the Special Task Force (STF) of Odisha Crime Branch on Sunday for allegedly blackmailing officers impersonating as Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials.
The accused have been identified as Tarinisen Mohapatra (30) and Brahmashankar Mohapatra (27) who hails from Odisha’s Dhenkanal district.
On the basis of a Complaint lodged by the Chhatrapur Sub- Collector, the two accused were remanded to judicial custody.
According to an STF official, the duo hatched plans to cheat government officials by impersonating themselves as Additional Directors of ED and extracting sizeable amounts from them.
Over 300 cheating cases have been raised against the duo across the state, the STF official added.
