New Delhi, July 1: Good news for yoga practitioners, gurus and supporters. The Olympic Council of Asia's Executive Body has finally given its nod to include yoga in the Asian Games.

This breaking new was confirmed by Indian Olympic Association (IOA) president PT Usha on Monday.

Earlier Usha had written to acting chief of the Olympic Council of Asia Randhir Singh for the inclusion of yoga as a sport in the Asian Games.

PT Usha in a statement released by the Indian Olympic Association stated that she was delighted that the OCA Executive Board spontaneously agreed to India’s request to give yoga the recognition it deserves. The proposal shall now move through the Sports Committee to the General Assembly for confirmation. It has a universal appeal and people around the world have embraced yoga and drawn benefits, she added.

Usha also thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya for making sincere and collective efforts to get yoga in the Asian Games.
