Yellow warning for thunderstorms in nine Odisha districts as southwest monsoon advances

Bhubaneswar, June 24: The Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar issued a yellow warning for thunderstorms with lightning for nine districts on Monday. Additionally, some areas in the state are expected to experience thunderstorms with lightning accompanied by gusty winds reaching speeds of 30-40 kmph.
As per the weather bulletin"Southwest Monsoon has further advanced into more parts of the state and covered 24 districts including Khordha, Nayagarh, Boudh, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Ganjam, Rayagada, Jharsuguda & Sundergarh."
Meanwhile, the weather department has predicted heavy rainfall across several districts over the next three days. "In the coming three days, there will be rain accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds with speeds reaching up to 30-40 kmph in the state," said Manorama Mohanty, director of IMD’s regional centre in Bhubaneswar.
